About Aaron

Aaron Barrera is a 27-year-old Electrical Engineering student who graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering and minor in Music Performance.

He currently lives in Dallas, TX and works as a Marketing Engineer at a large semiconductor company in the US. In his free time, he loves to run marathons, hang out with friends, and record new music!

Composer

When Jeffry Bogue, director of the Newsome High School Chorus, asked Aaron Barrera to arrange a piece for the NHS Chamber Choir to perform at their Spring Concert, he didn't shy away. In two weeks, he composed his first original piece, "Lost", and it was applauded by the audience and given a standing ovation. That moment right there was when Aaron decided to be a composer, consequently embarking on his studies as a Music Composition student in his first two years at the University of Florida. Although the program did not work out for him, he learned a myriad of techniques and skills in his four semesters of composition skills classes. During those four semesters, Aaron was at his prime: he composed pieces for many large ensembles and chamber ensembles to prepare for juries every semester. He has arranged for brass choir, the Tuba/Euphonium Studio, the Quarter-Sized Tuba Quartet, Men's Glee Club, and even for his brother's middle school orchestra. With over 15 compositions under his belt, he is proud to have had his music already performed at many different venues and aspires to continuing composing music throughout his life.

Arranger

After performing in an a cappella group at the University of Florida for two years, Aaron decided to try freelance arranging for a cappella groups in 2018. Since then, he has arranged more than 75 arrangements that have been performed across the United States, Canada, and India. His arrangements have been featured at ICCA, LAAF, SoJam, Best of Collegiate A Cappella (BOCA), and many more festivals and performances over the last 5 years.

Despite slowing down in arranging, Aaron continues to post some free arrangements on Musescore, which you can download for free: https://musescore.com/user/30322962

At the end of the day, arranging for Aaron is not about a career - it is only for fun and to enjoy seeing a vision come to life!
