Musicianship runs in the family, and this piece is based off of my younger brother's electronic composition, "Lost". Shane Barrera is an up-and-coming talented musician and movie maker, and he got to share a special moment in orchestra when the teacher gave him the privilege to perform a rendition of electronic song with the orchestra. He immediately turned to his older brother and asked if he could arrange a "bigger, more exciting" orchestral version of his song. Without hesitation, Aaron composed "Emprise", based off of Shane Barrera's composition "Lost". The piece is an epic, adventurous four-minute piece that is reminiscent of a movie score. It was performed at his middle school's "Music at the Movies" concert, where it was well received by the audience, family, and friends. Not only was this a challenge because it had high expectations, but it was also Aaron Barrera's first orchestral piece ever composed.
