The second work in Three Poems by Sara Teasdale is "The Fountain", a lyrical poem that describes how a fountain she sees reminds her of of the peaceful serenity that was in her life when she was in love because of the effervescence that is surrounding the environment. "The fountain sang and sang" is a refrain that is said four times in the simple ABAB-rhyming poem, creating an opportunity for parallelism and repetition that makes the listener feel like they are experiencing the reoccurring thoughts that cross the poet's mind. However, the fourth stanza, the only stanza that is different from the other ones, is an illuminating landscape that captures the exhilarating beauty of the moment before it returns back to Sara's reminiscent thoughts.
